KPMG publishes report on PFI schools

KPMG has recently published a report which concludes that educational performance in newly rebuilt PFI schools improves faster than in conventional ones. The KPMG report entitled “PFI in school building – does it influence educational outcomes?” follows a first report, published in 2008 and tries to answer the following questions: Do last year’s results prevail? Does PFI influence student achievement? Is student motivation affected? What are the possible policy implications?

Budget 2009 reconfirms Government commitment to PFI

In the Budget published on 22 April 2009, the Government reconfirmed its commitment to PFI and its establishment of an infrastructure debt financing unit to be called the Treasury Infrastructure Finance Unit (TIFU). The Government stated it has decided to move away from the Wave based model in relation to BSF and also stated it plans to commit more than £2 billion of PFI credits in the Waste sector.
