The £90 million Kent Schools PFI Project, operational in 2007, involved the redevelopment of 6 secondary schools. The redevelopment included the construction of new state-of-the-art learning and teaching facilities for each school, including gymnasiums, dance/drama studios and all weather pitches.
The new buildings at The Malling School near Maidstone, Kent, with over 500 pupils were officially opened by Ed Balls, the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families in April 2008. At the school, which boasts state-of-the-art facilities, the Science department has recently been selected as one of only four departments in Kent to be showcased as part of the National Strategy.
