The £320 million South Lanarkshire Schools PFI Project involves the new build of 17 schools and the refurbishment of 2 others.
Carluke High School is a secondary school in rural South Lanarkshire approximately 25 miles south east of Glasgow and has approximately 1,200 pupils. In November 2007 the pupils moved into a brand new purpose built school.
A key feature of the new school is the 'street area', from which the teaching wings lead off. The 'street' acts as a social hub for the school, providing a flexible, open and airy space used for a variety of purposes. Each of the teaching blocks is separated by a landscaped courtyard which pupils have been heavily involved in designing.
