The £24 million Caludon Castle PFI Project involves the new build of a secondary school in Coventry.
The new Caludon Castle School and Community College, which opened its doors to pupils in 2007, is a coeducational 11-18 comprehensive school of over 1,500 students with a sixth form of 307 serving North East Coventry. The new school is a designated Business and Enterprise College and because of this, special emphasis was placed on ICT within the design.
In addition to the main educational assets, the new complex also comprises a sport and leisure centre (incorporating a 25 m four-lane swimming pool), dance and drama studios, gymnasium, external all-weather sports stadium, four multipurpose playing courts and a learning resource centre equipped with IT facilities. The new school compares to the old facilities which were in need of renewal due to general wear and tear of the buildings.
